As a health and wellness coach, I have wanted to teach people how to overcome and leave depression and sickness in the dust. However, I think we can begin to worship the ideal state when God may be asking us to suffer for a purpose higher than our own. The more I grow as a child of God, the more I realize that our efforts to overcome may be leaving out our need to learn how to persevere and endure.
I don't always understand why God asks us to live well in the middle of crippling mental and physical disorders, but He does. God gave us Jesus; therefore, we have everything we need to partake in their divine nature (2 Peter 1). So, let's stop only asking for healing. Let's learn how to thrive -- make every effort -- in Jesus' name, in the middle, together!
From Groans to Glory
"For those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit have their minds set on the things of the Spirit...The Spirit himself testifies together with our spirit that we are God’s children, and if children, also heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ—if indeed we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us." Rom 8:5, 16-18
"We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh." 2 Corinthians 4:8-11
"His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. By these he has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature." 1 Pet 1:3-4
In the video, I mentioned a brussel sprout recipe that I love making a bunch of for easy access when I am having a down day. This mixture is wonderful with a quick piece of air fryer salmon, leftover chicken, a fried egg, or even all by itself. The recipe calls for sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts, but friend, you can do whatever veggie you want. The glaze is AMAZING and so easy. It will go well on just about anything. I also mentioned my Broccoli Baked Spaghetti. I promise this is easy and totally worth your time!
