Why must JESUS increase and us decrease?!

Because we — living in darkness — have no context for the love and light necessary to save us from ourselves. There is so much more to it than that, but in simple terms, here at the top of this most Holy Week...

PRAISE GOD FOR SENDING HIS SON TO SAVE US, KNOWING WE COULD NOT SAVE OURSELVES. PRAISE JESUS FOR BREAKING OUR CHAINS ON THE CROSS!! PRAISE YOU, OH MIGHTY AND GENEROUS SAVIOR, THAT ALL DARKNESS ULTIMATELY HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO SURRENDER TO YOU!!

“In the beginning was the Word [JESUS], and the Word [JESUS] was with God, and the Word [JESUS] was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were created through him [JESUS], and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created.
In him [JESUS] was life, and that life was the light of men. That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it [GRASP, COMPREHEND, or OVERTAKE]
He [JESUS] was in the world, and the world was created through him, and yet the world did not recognize him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him [JESUS], he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name…The Word [JESUS] became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed [JESUS'] glory, the glory as the one and only Son [JESUS] from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-5, 10-12, 14 (brackets/emphasis added)

"Oh the cross of Jesus Christ
He's the reason I'm alive
For His blood, has set me free
It will never lose, its power for me!

Now the dawn, of resurrection
Floods the night, as hope prevails to shine
Salvation wakes, our chains to break
And we arise!"

"Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives!"
