If God Rested, So Will I…

“People were the final creation before God‘s complete approval of rest. We are not made for rest; rest was made for us. Rest is God‘s gift back to his people. His presence is how he connects us to his rest…Rest for a moment, and listen to the Still Small Voice of truth, instructing you to escape the cycle of busy.
Rest is available even now in the midst of the deadlines, the people vying for your attention, the bills you hope you can pay this month, and the ambitions you strive to fulfill. As you soak in the rays of the rising Sun, breathe the fresh air of summer and rain, heed the canaries called to sing a new song, may your toil be suspended long enough to remind you of the rest readily available to you.” (Sacred Rest, pg 99)

Think about God after He created everything. He stopped and said it was good. Is it possible that we skip that because we think it is arrogant to stop and say that what we’ve done is good..and maybe it is? Here’s the bigger thought, though…are we stopping to consider what God has allotted and allowed around us and called it good?
There are so many things I have thought about accomplishing in 2024...So many that I will eventually get around to implementing. (Insert sarcastic tone and rolled eyes here). However, I feel like God keeps tapping on my heart about just being a good steward of my time, talent, treasure, and testimony TODAY.
A word I keep hearing this week repeatedly in the things I'm reading and listening to is to be content in the small. Embrace the mundane and unknowns as a gift. Let His will be well with your soul! Accept that God doesn't need me, but He does want me. I am slowly understanding that today doesn't have to be a life-changing day...just a faithful one.
I have been challenged by a dear friend going through something so hard...actually horrible...right now. Her response to this war that is raging around her is to make herself stop three times a day and think about God...to worship Him as He is and consider all He has allotted and allowed to be good. I want to live like that!
Let's join her! Let's accept the blessing of resting in God!
Thank you, Lord, for another day to bring glory. If the rocks and stars, the valleys, and the mountains cry out…so will I!
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands. Day after day, they pour out speech; night after night,
they communicate knowledge.” Ps 19:1-2
HEALTHY NUGGET...
The desire to live a healthy life is good, but it's when we finally get honest with ourselves about our habits that things go from an idea to an action. So, it's time that we address overeating!
Overeating does more than cause weight gain. It breaks down your immune system. With the insane rise of sickness in our world, it is imperative that we make a plan on how we intend on living in moderation. One way is to use smaller dishes, and another is to use foods that actually satiate our bodies.
Over time, I’ve become a huge proponent of oats simply because they are a powerful, cheap, little blessing of a meal…that can be used so many different ways. This idea is so quick and easy. All you need is…
OATS + PAPRIKA + ROSEMARY + OLIVE OIL + ARUGULA + EGG + SALT
Before you go to bed, make your oatmeal, but instead of adding banana and cinnamon, combine paprika, rosemary, and olive oil in a Tupperware container and stick it in the fridge. Then in the morning, heat up the oatmeal while you fry your egg and add a handful of arugula. Salt to taste.
This may seem too simple to be true, but what if doing super simple things -- in moderation -- will be what changes your life?! Don’t just take my word for it…try it for yourself!!
Note: You can use quinoa as a substitute.
