I know that many are not a fan of the book of Job, but I think the point of the book might be missed. There is the big question of why good people suffer, but that's not it. It's that even good, God-loving people also need help believing that God is who He says He is, and even when horrible things happen, He is Sovereign and good, and his plans are

perfect and immeasurable.

By the time the book is over, Job is no longer crying out for God to explain Himself. Job is bowed in reverence because the Great I AM took the time to reveal Himself. At the beginning of the book, Job says the right things, but by the end, Job is still

-- rested at heart --

because He truly knows the name of God.

“Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD”

Job 1:20-21

So what do we do with Job? How do we apply it?

One day at a time, we dwell on the name of God.

The biblical definition of the word NAME is "The revealed character and reputation of God."

Now, think about it. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that He is God.

In other words, "Be still and know HIS NAME."

Ok then, but what does "be still" mean? I can't seem to be still. Are we going to have to go through what Job did to actually be still? Well, I hope not! In the meantime, though, we can force ourselves to apply the biblical definition of still...

"To Sink down, relax, let go, cease striving, withdraw, stop fighting,

bring hands down from the defensive position."

The elders give us the best example...

“Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to the one seated on the throne, the one who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before the one seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne and say, Our Lord and God, you are worthy to receive glory and honor and power because you have created all things, and by your will, they exist and were created.” ‭‭Rev‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬-‭11‬ ‭

Now, here's your chance...
