Happy Sunday Morning!!
Believe me...I know that getting ourselves up and around on Sundays can be a smidge challenging, much less "happy." There can be lots of reasons we just don't feel motivated: There is someone we just don't really want to see, we don't feel prepared, we feel pressured to serve but don't have any extra energy, we have overcommited ourselves and Church is the last thing we want to do, we are living in willful sin, or we feel stuck in the sin of someone else...The list goes on and on.
I often get caught up in valid reasons to stay home. I am not proud to say that, but it is the course of this scattered mind and tired body. In the past several menopausal years, I have been continuously tempted by the thought that "worshipping from home" is better for me because I have to preserve my energy. BUT GOD in His patience keeps reminding me through steady whispers from the Holy Spirit...
CHURCH IS NOT ABOUT ME. IT IS FOR HIM.
At the beginning of the year, I was in a science class that was SO far above my head: The Argument for Creation in Genesis. Y'all, I am NOT a science mind! I could barely understand most of the literature, but there was a consistent thread through it all that enveloped me and drove me to want more...God's love and plan to save and protect us.
Read this mind-blowing snippet...
"Many of the molecules of the universe are concentrated in gaseous astronomical bodies (like stars) and solid bodies like planets and moons. God arranged these bodies into larger systems. Moons were arranged around planets. Solar systems were created from such things as planets and comets. Solar systems and nebulae were arranged into galaxies. Galaxies were arranged into galactic clusters and galactic clusters into superclusters. Superclusters were then arranged into even larger structures.
In His plan for our Milky Way galaxy, God made sure that stars were not placed close enough to our solar system to pull planets out of their orbits. Even though most solar systems have multiple suns, God designed our solar system with a single star so the Earth's orbit would be stable. Of all the different types of stars in the universe, our star's color was chosen for photosynthesis, and its type was chosen for stability. The Earth's orbit is made just the size and shape necessary to produce the appropriate range of surface temperatures.
God's consideration of man shows up in the design of the entire universe—from its most basic structure to the largest bodies it contains." Faith, Form, and Time by Kurt Wise

Now let those facts and that final truth match up with what David says in Psalm 19...
"The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.
Day after day, they pour out speech;
night after night, they communicate knowledge.
There is no speech; there are no words;
Their voice is not heard.
Their message has gone out to the whole earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens, he has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming from his home;
It rejoices like an athlete running a course.
It rises from one end of the heavens
and circles to their other end;
nothing is hidden from its heat."
I MEAN!! Doesn't that blow your mind?!?! There is so much victory over me and myself in the thought that my God has poured out his message on all of creation, communicating to us that HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN AND HIS SON IS COMING AGAIN SOON!!
Can you see it at the end of that passage...the rising and setting of the sun is a reminder of THE SON'S promised return!!!!
Isn't it fascinating to think that the creator of the entire universe and the author of darkness and light, wrath and love, justice and mercy is who we have the privilege to worship?!?!
As we rise this morning, and understand these things to be true, all the praise rises in us...our minds cannot comprehend, and our hearts cannot contain the joy of knowing His greatness. So, we are compelled to join in worship for the reason that is beyond us...HIM!
WHAT A GIFT WE'VE BEEN OFFERED TO JOIN TOGETHER IN WORSHIP OF HIM IN ALL HIS GLORY!
So, beautiful friends, rise in worship, bow in wonder, prepare with fear and trembling, sing with all creation, and then go and sing with your brothers and sisters in Christ...
"This is my Father's world:
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad!
THE LORD IS KING LET THE HEAVEN'S RING...
GOD REIGNS!
GOD REIGNS!
GOD REIGNS!"
